Quick Blog

Iwas ready to write about running out of oil on the coldest day in two years. Then I was going to let off steam about teenagers and MySpacing and IMing. I didn't have time to fix the birthday message to my sister when Bill parked the computer on eBay. So I was gonna bitch about that.

I need to type faster.

Here's a picture of our dog:

Fig Bread Recipe

Here's that fig bread recipe everyone liked over the holidays:

1 cup boiling water, 1 cup dried figs, 1/2 cup uncooked oatmeal,1 1/2 cups all purpose flour,1 tsp baking soda,1/2 tsp baking powder, ¼ tsp salt, 4 tbsp butter or butter/oil mix,1 cup sugar,1 large egg, 1 tsp vanilla
Combine the figs and boiling water and let cool about 1 hour. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt. In a large bowl, beat the butter until fluffy, and gradually beat in the sugar. Add the egg and vanilla and beat until lightened - 1 to 2 minutes. Add the dry ingredients and beat just until blended. With a spoon, blend in the fig mixture. Turn batter into a greased 8½" x 4½" loaf pan, and bake until the bread just begins to pull away from the sides of the pan and the top springs back when lightly touched, 1 to 1¼ hour. Cool in the pan on a rack for 15 minutes, and then turn out and cool completely. Wrap in wax paper and store overnight before serving. Cut into thin slices.

First Snow!

Guess the garden won't get in this week.
Gonna try to update the blog today; will post later to make sure I didn't screw it all up.

Note to my stepmom: Found out we didn't lose the gas cap cover for the Volvo. Bill washed the car with a pressure washer and just blew the sucker off.
